Pat Nearney began entertaining in the late 70s writing and producing pantomimes for his local dramatic society. He and his associate continued to do this for 27 consecutive pantomimes. For the past 10 years he has assisted with the writing and production of the annual Christmas pantomime for a Great Yarmouth holiday complex .He has also appeared in these. He has played nearly all of the well known pantomime roles including Buttons and Wishee Washee. In latter years he has added the role of Dame to his repertoire and has earned some excellent reviews.
Over the years Pat has played numerous parts in musicals, straight plays and farces for his local society. He has appeared in Carousel, Oklahoma, Gigi, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the roof and A Christmas Carol.
In the early 90s, Pat appeared in a wartime show entitled ‘Bless ‘em All' and was asked to perform a tribute to The Cheeky Chappie’ Max Miller. Pat’s act was seen and he was signed up by a local holiday centre to perform his tribute in an Old Tyme Music Hall show. After two successful summer seasons, Pat decided that he would like to concentrate on comedy and developed his own Stand-Up comedy act. He became a semi-professional artist on the holiday camp circuit and for many years toured Norfolk and Suffolk with a show called The Press Gang’ which was a Norfolk-based production featuring singers, poets, storytellers and comedians celebrating the Norfolk accent. He still does shows with other cast members (see Pig in the wheelbarrow tour’ below).
Pat’s main forte is his cabaret and he has performed in theatres, clubs, holiday centres and village halls all over Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. He has done summer seasons in holiday centres in Great Yarmouth, Caister, Hemsby and Hunstanton for many years and has also appeared at Corton and Gunton Hall for Warners and at Pake field for Pontins on many occasions.
Pat’s act is geared towards a more mature audience and is a pot pourri of jokes, stories and cheeky humour plus an occasional song. No offensive language is used at any time. He has also developed a comedy mime using 1960s songs to tell a romantic love story to end his cabaret spot. This is entirely his own creation and has been well received wherever he has performed it.
Pat is especially proud to have performed many times in theatres and hotels in Brighton for The Max Miller Appreciation Society’.

Pat is a member of the Max Miller Appreciation Society which is based in Max’s home town of Brighton. Pat has studied the style of Max Miller over many years and performs as Max Miller but has written and included more up to date material in his act to make the act more suitable for modern audiences. His tribute is still very popular in Olde Tyme Music Hall shows and 1940s weekends etc.
